Digital asset treasury strategy

Balance-sheet strategy for companies holding — or considering — digital assets as a treasury position, from policy to custody to disclosure.

What it is

A treasury strategy answers four questions in order: why the balance sheet should hold the asset, how much, under what custody and control arrangements, and how the position is disclosed to investors. Companies that answer them in that order become digital asset treasury companies; companies that answer them backwards become cautionary tales.

When it applies

Public companies evaluating a treasury allocation and the market re-rating that can follow it. Private companies with operational digital asset flows that have quietly become a balance-sheet position. And any board asked by a shareholder why the company does or does not hold the asset class — a question that now deserves a documented answer either way.

How GDA executes

Policy first: allocation logic, limits, and rebalancing rules the board can defend. Infrastructure second: qualified custody, controls, and audit arrangements to institutional standard. Markets third: execution through OTC channels at institutional size, and — where the position is strategic — the disclosure and investor-relations approach that lets the market price it. The firm has processed institutional OTC transaction volume since its founding era.

What to ask any adviser

Whether they have executed at your intended size without moving the market. How the custody arrangement fails, and what happens then. And how the position will read in your filings — a treasury strategy that cannot be disclosed cleanly is not a strategy.

In brief

What is a digital asset treasury company?

A company whose strategy includes holding digital assets as a significant balance-sheet position, and whose market valuation reflects that position. The category has grown from one famous example into a recognized public-market strategy.

What does a digital asset treasury policy cover?

Allocation logic and limits, custody and controls, execution method, accounting treatment, and disclosure — in that order.
